Abraham Gottlob Werner Medal –For outstanding scientific achievements

The Abraham Gottlob Werner Medal is one of the highest honors awarded by the German Mineralogical Society (DMG). It recognizes outstanding scientific achievements as well as exceptional contributions to the field of mineralogy.

The medal was formerly awarded in both gold and silver. Today, it is presented as a single distinction. Exceptional service to the advancement of the mineralogical sciences is additionally recognized through the Doris Schachner Medal.
