Mineralogy is now integrated into many geoscience degree programmes at universities and can often be pursued as a specialization. These programmes combine fundamental natural sciences with current questions related to the Earth, its resources and materials, and their interactions with the environment and society.
Degree programmes generally follow the Bachelor–Master structure, leading first to a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and subsequently to a Master of Science (M.Sc.). Thanks to their modular design, they also allow for lateral entry, for example for graduates in physics, chemistry, or related natural sciences.
Students interested in pursuing an academic career can further qualify through a doctoral degree following their studies. Research projects are conducted at universities, non-university research institutions, and in collaboration with industrial partners.
Information on specific degree programmes, admission requirements, and course content can be found on the websites of the respective universities and through their central student advisory services.
