Mineralogical museums and scientific collections preserve unique records of Earth's history and make the remarkable diversity of minerals accessible for research, education, and the public. Many of these collections have a history spanning more than 200 years and rank among Germany's most important geoscientific collections.

The map provides an overview of the 39 museums and collections currently represented in the Working Group on Mineralogical Museums and Collections of the German Mineralogical Society. These include university museums as well as collections maintained by non-university research institutions, municipal museums, and other scientific organisations.
