The Abraham Gottlob Werner Silver Medal was awarded to Professor Dr. Andrew Putnis (University of Münster) in recognition of his extensive research on phase transformations and mineral–fluid interactions. His investigations of order–disorder phenomena, displacive phase transformations, and exsolution processes in minerals represent fundamental contributions to our understanding of the mechanisms and kinetics of phase transformations, as well as the thermodynamics of solid solutions. In the field of mineral–fluid interactions, Professor Putnis has made pioneering contributions to the dissolution and growth of minerals in aqueous solutions, particularly under the influence of organic and inorganic additives. His textbook Introduction to Mineral Sciences is regarded as a cornerstone of mineralogical education at universities around the world.
