Carina Silke Hanser
Carina Silke Hanser transformed her early fascination with minerals into an impressive scientific career. As a child, she began collecting rocks in the Black Forest, an interest that ultimately led her to study geosciences at the University of Freiburg.
Her comprehensive academic training, complemented by gemmological education at renowned institutions, culminated in a PhD at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, where she focused on the spectroscopic analysis of beryls.
As part of her research, she has extensively investigated emeralds from the Chitral region, applying spectroscopic methods to study the structural and color-producing mechanisms of beryls. In addition, she has contributed to materials science projects relevant to cultural heritage conservation and restoration.
Her expertise extends to the analysis and characterization of historical materials, placing her work at the intersection of mineralogy, geochemistry, and applied materials science. Her diverse research in mineralogy and gemmology has been published in several scientific journals and has received international recognition.
The Beate Mocek Award will enable her to further strengthen scientific exchange at international conferences and increase the visibility of her innovative research.
