On March 17 and 18, 2024, the 8th Geology of Ore Deposits (GOOD) Meeting was held at the Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology. After a two-year break, we were very pleased with the strong response: nearly 40 participants from Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, and various universities and research institutions across Germany traveled to Freiberg.

Following a social icebreaker evening with barbecue and beer on March 17, a full day of engaging talks and poster presentations took place on March 18, covering topics such as ore deposits, geometallurgy, and archaeometallurgy. For us, the conference was a great success, and we would like to once again sincerely thank all participants for their excellent posters and presentations.

We are also grateful for the support of the Deutsche Mineralogische Gesellschaft (DMG) and the Deutsche Geologische Gesellschaft – Geologische Vereinigung (DGGV), who provided travel grants for many student participants. In addition, together with the DVGeo, they supported the promotion of the meeting.

We are currently still looking for a host for the next meeting (get in touch!) and look forward to seeing you again soon.
