The joint annual meeting of the DMG Sections Petrology & Petrophysics and Geochemistry will take place from October 21–22, 2022, at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. After two years of online events, we are delighted to return to an in-person meeting, offering ample opportunities for scientific exchange and personal interaction.
As in previous years, the meeting is intended primarily as a platform for early-career researchers (doctoral and Master’s students) from both sections to present their current projects and research results to a broad scientific audience. The aim is to reflect the full diversity of ongoing research across both sections and to foster direct, interdisciplinary exchange. In this spirit, contributions from all areas of petrology, petrophysics, and geochemistry are explicitly encouraged.
The meeting will take place on the campus of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in lecture hall N1 “MUSCHEL” (Johann-Joachim-Becher-Weg 23, 55128 Mainz; marked “E” on the campus map).
Campus maps are available here:

Following the poster session on Friday afternoon, the traditional barbecue in front of the Institute of Geosciences is planned, offering a relaxed setting to continue scientific discussions and network with colleagues. The meeting will conclude on Saturday by approximately 4:00 p.m. with the awards for the best presentations and posters. Laboratory tours will also be available for interested participants.
To cover catering costs, a participation fee of €30 will be collected on-site during registration. Student DMG members traveling from outside Mainz may apply for a travel grant of €50 upon presentation of proof of student membership.
