Dear DMG Members and Friends,
Today we’d like to discuss our awards and honors. These honors provide an opportunity to bring our outstanding researchers to the attention of a wider public, to recognize discoveries and lifetime achievements, and to promote the career opportunities of our young members. According to our new rules, nominations for all awards must be received by January 30. We ask all members to consider deserving award recipients. Now is your chance to nominate someone!
Our awards and honors are:
the Abraham-Gottlob-Werner Medal for outstanding scientific achievements,
the Agricola Medal for outstanding scientific achievements in the field of applied mineralogy,
the Doris-Schachner Medal for services to the advancement of the mineralogical sciences,
the Victor-Moritz-Goldschmidt Prize for scientists under 38 years of age for particularly significant findings made in the last five years,
the Beate-Mocek Prize, for which young female scientists can apply themselves to fund a special project (typically before completing their dissertation) (now also accepted until January 30!)
the conferral of honorary membership
The process is simple and straightforward, with no lengthy online forms: Just send a letter of nomination and your resume to the Chair and Executive Director! Further details on the nomination procedures can be found here: www.dmg-home.org/dmg-home/ehrungen-/-preise/
